MetroWest Adopts Revised 2027 Budget, Reducing Fairway Cove’s Proposed Increase

UPDATE MetroWest Master Association adopted its final 2027 budget, and the outcome is considerably better for Fairway Cove than initially proposed.

Under MWMA’s preliminary budget proposal, Fairway Cove faced a $7,051.91 increase in its annual Master Association assessment. After extensive advocating by Fairway Cove leadership, the final adopted increase was reduced to $1,421.94.

Fairway Cove’s annual payment to MWMA will increase from $76,980.37 in 2026 to $78,402.31 in 2027.

Throughout the budget process, Fairway Cove leadership took a proactive stance and communicated directly with MWMA about the impact another substantial increase would have on our community and homeowners.

Our message was clear: every additional dollar Fairway Cove must direct to MWMA is another dollar that cannot be invested in Fairway Cove’s own needs and another cost ultimately borne by homeowners who are also investing in and maintaining their properties.

MWMA remains Fairway Cove’s largest single annual expense, representing more than 37% of Fairway Cove’s budget. In other words, more than one out of every three dollars in Fairway Cove’s budget goes straight to MWMA before Fairway Cove funds its own landscaping, maintenance, insurance, management, community improvements, and other neighborhood priorities.

MWMA’s approved 2027 budget totals approximately $3.27 million, remaining level with its adopted 2026 expense budget. Among the reductions from the original proposal or current-year funding:

  • Camera Maintenance: The proposed $89,100 expense was reduced to $0 in response to the pause of the camera program.

  • Landscaping: Reduced by approximately $52,000.

  • Public Safety Equipment: Reduced by approximately $54,960.

  • Advertising: Reduced from $41,000 to $30,000.

  • Legal Fees and Collections: Reduced by a combined $23,000.

MWMA maintained or approved increases in several areas, including:

  • Community Events: Increasing from $80,000 to $105,000

  • Marketing: Increasing from $60,000 to $80,000.

  • Holiday Decorations: Increasing from $45,000 to $60,000.

  • Salaries and Employee Benefits: Increasing by $36,180.

  • Capital Improvements: Increasing from $102,000 to $152,000

Now that MWMA has established Fairway Cove’s 2027 assessment, Vista Community Association Management and the Fairway Cove Board can complete our own proposed 2027 budget.

The proposed 2027 Fairway Cove budget will be provided to homeowners in the coming weeks, ahead of the Fairway Cove Board Meeting on Wednesday, October 14, at 6:30 p.m. where assessments and the budget will be voted on.
